Loving Myself

I am enough.

In all of my forms–daughter, sister, friend, coach, lover, wife.

I am good enough.

I fail. I get back up. I am perfectly imperfect.

I know what I need to change.

I know how to forgive. I forgive myself.

I am enough.

My forties were quite chaotic for me. I got divorced, went back to school, moved to a new state, and changed careers. I was drained, depressed, and not sure what to do.

I didn't like who I was or who I had been. I most certainly didn't love myself. And it was at that moment I came to the crushing realization that it was all my fault.

That was difficult to comprehend. I was making poor choices, which came flooding back, engulfing me, filling me with shame, regret, and unworthiness.

I decided it was time to start loving myself.

To finally, put me first.

I knew the journey would not be easy.

I knew I would have to let go of and forgive others.

Most of all, I knew I had to forgive myself and love myself unconditionally.

It was time to love myself all the way, really love myself entirely from top to bottom, inside and out, every part, every flaw.

A difficult concept to grasp.

To be emotionally healthy, self-love needs to be so ingrained, so much a given that we don't think about it; we just know it's there.

Self-Love is a process, one that will never be truly complete.

Self-love is a permanent, ongoing state of mind.

Self-love is allowing us to make mistakes, but knowing we will be okay.

Self-love is extending kindness to ourselves, acknowledging that we deserve love.

Self-love is knowing we are enough, just as we are, this very minute, this very second.
